Bluerose LightWalker

About Bluerose:

Bluerose is a quiet child born from Redrose the Fair and DarkStorm the Wise, a prolific pair of Royal Elves who have reigned over the Land of Lightwalkers for 800 years. Being the 1002nd child, she rarely has seen her parents and is often overlooked or even forgotten during festivities and celebrations as she is so quiet and small.

Bluerose also keeps to herself and does not like to talk to others or draw attention to herself. Despite having a name close to Redrose, which usually would be a high honor, Redrose doesn't even really remember Bluerose at all, and when christening the child, it had been in honor of their 1001st child, Whiterose, who was a glorious babe with sparkling blue eyes translucent crystal-like skin that emitted light from within. A miracle child everyone called Blackrose, and Bluerose, who was Whiterose's twin, was completely forgotten in Whiterose's Shadow.

Also, the one thing that made Bluerose even more forgettable, was the fact that, unlike other elves, Bluerose was born with no light within whatsoever. It was as if Whiterose has taken both her light and Blue's light in the womb, and made it into one, leaving Bluerose with only an empty space where the elven light should have been.

How did Bluerose come to rule over Dimmer Valley:

Bluerose is an elected Elf who oversees the government of the Mushroom in Dimmer Valley. A royal from a long line of elites, Bluerose has often been overlooked, and even in the delegation of governing the Lands of the Lightwalkers, Bluerose was left to the very last to be assigned a colony to oversee, and even after she had been remembered, the official office of delegation and finance forgot her, and she received her assignment two years after her peers.

For a bit more context - every elf must rule for at least 50 years as a form of creating attachment and responsibility to the mortal plane that they lord over. If the elf does not complete their reign they will be punished as a deserter and if they are not able to obtain placement they will work in the royal palace until placement for them is found.

More about Bluerose:

Bluerose grew up in the shadow of her twin, Whiterose, and due to the isolation and neglect, developed a very pessimistic outlook on life. Blue is always moody and irritable, and it doesn't help that Dimmer Valley is a sunk in little land at the far corner of the Lands of the Lightwalkers. The people are all mushrooms and they speak a strange little language that Bluerose struggles to pick up as she tries her best to govern them.

Thankfully she has excellent translators who convey her commands to her people, however, she was never suited to rule. All Blue can think of is going off on an adventure and exploring the world outside of the Lands of the Lightwalkers.

Sadly the Land of the Lightwalkers gets that name from the fact that outside of the protective shields and the barriers, the lands are barren, scorched, and beaten down by the Voidwalkers, beings that have been consumed by a virus that feeds on the light within an elf and infects it with darkness and turns the elf bloodthirsty and evil. These elves turn into Vampires, and although yes, they could continue to feed on the fresh fruits of the earth, the insatiable desire to eat blood that the virus causes drives these elves insane and turns them into dark hunting monsters.

Some have theories that this is the natural evolution of the fairy, however not one elf that has converted has shown any sign of rational thought, and so Redrose, DarkStorm, and man of their peers banded together to form a protective barrier that protects all within their lands, from the virus, as well as those who have been affected.

The virus also dramatically shortens an elf's life, and after much observation, it seems that many Vampires die within 20 or 30 years of being exposed to the virus, which is a stark comparison with the normal lifespan of 1000 to 2000 years.

Based on these calculations, it has been 800 years, and Bluerose wonders, do they really need to keep living behind these glistening light walls, or could there be something more waiting on the other side?
